Sometime last week, a teenage boy shot a golden retriever dog in the face with birdshot. He shot the dog in one of the left legs with a triple blade, steel arrow. He unscrewed the shaft from the arrow, left the tip in, and then tied the dog's collar to a line that was attached to a four wheeler. He attempted to drag the dog behind the four wheeler. Thankfully, the collar broke. Concerned citizens who heard some of the noise and saw what was happening rushed out to get the dog and take it to the vet.
Yellow is a sweet, beautiful, loving dog. He's friendly and loves people. He's eager for attention even after everything that happened. He cannot put weight on the injured leg and it might never heal. There is still a hole on his muzzle where most of the birdshot hit him. There are white scars on his nose, mapping out where other pellets went.
People - I don't care if they're kids or not - who can do something so awful to a loving and defenseless animal are disgusting, vile, wretched beings who should be locked up. If not worse. Tomorrow the case goes before the judge that my nana works for. She will be the court reporter in this case. Pray for justice for Yellow. Fortunately for Yellow, the judge is an animal lover who has dogs of his own.
